Scientists have begun to find different alternatives to better mental health for many people in this world. The musical solutions for implementation should take a page from the book of existing solutions, primarily musical therapy. Recent research has shown the effectiveness of therapeutic musical programs to rectify the mental health epidemic because of the already widespread use of music therapy, its effective treatment, the benefits of certain music, and the lack of sufficient programs in lower-income schools to assist students both academically and emotionally.
Three types of musical therapeutic approaches have been taken into consideration and synthesized when creating a medical solution for music integration for therapy. These approaches are known as the MaPRE, or music-assisted progressive relaxation exercises, RAMT, or Relational Active Music Therapy, and MIT, or melodic intonation therapy.
MaPRE (Music Assisted Progressive Relaxation Exercises)
A new strategy that depicts the results of people that use music in their relaxation activities, therefore calming the mind and boosting their mental health.
RAMT (Rational Active Music Therapy)
The RAMT approach analyzes the relationships that music promotes, and has an overall more relationship-targeted approach toward musical therapy. According to Alfred Raglio, the one who studied this approach, “In music therapy, the active relational approach is based mainly on improvisation, and, from a practical standpoint, emphasizes the chances of enhancing and synchronizing the patient’s movements.”
